In the summer of 2014, AltspaceVR launched on the early version of Oculus Rift (DK2), becoming one of the first social VR platforms. Our community of early Rift users helped shape AltspaceVR into the communications hub and multidimensional playground that it is today. We’re excited to be in the hands and on the heads of a new wave of people on one of the most anticipated products in the virtual reality (VR) industry.
“Many of our earliest users are Rift fans and have been looking forward to an even higher quality experience in AltspaceVR,” said Eric Romo, founder and CEO of AltspaceVR. “Facebook’s Oculus Rift has been much anticipated, and now that it’s here, it is gaining the attention of a wider range of consumers and helping to drive VR adoption.”
Users visiting on an Oculus Rift can meet their friends and interact in shared virtual spaces, attend live music, comedy or art shows, explore a giant maze, play disc golf, watch streaming video or play tabletop games like Dungeons and Dragons or Boss Monster.
Oculus Rift users can move freely around and between environments with their friends in AltspaceVR. They can talk, gesture and interact in the most natural way possible online while enjoying the greatest variety of activities and events available in social VR.
AltspaceVR is cross-platform, allowing users to connect seamlessly with with one another in VR even if they are on different platforms. AltspaceVR supports Oculus Rift, DK2, HTC Vive and Samsung Gear VR.
